BREAKING: Supreme Court to rule on governorship battles in Ogun, Gombe, Nasarawa, others

The Supreme Court is poised to announce its judgment on the disputes arising from the recent gubernatorial elections in five states. This development follows last week’s rulings on gubernatorial contests in nine states, notably including Kano and Plateau. Abba Kabir Yusuf and Caleb Mutfwang, the respective governors of Kano and Plateau, were previously removed from office by the Court of Appeal.

The states currently under scrutiny are Ogun, Kebbi, Gombe, Nasarawa, and Delta. Legal actions seeking the removal of the incumbent governors have been instituted against Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, and Nasir Idris of Kebbi.

With the exception of Governor Sule of Nasarawa, all the governors have previously emerged victorious in legal challenges at both the Court of Appeal and their respective state governorship election tribunals.
