BREAKING: Suspected suicide bomber killed in Mogadishu Barracks Abuja explosion
An explosion, suspected to have been caused by a bomb, killed one person on Monday in Abuja.
Another individual was reportedly injured in the blast, which is believed to have been triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED).
According to AIT, a military eyewitness — who chose to remain anonymous — stated that the deceased, believed to be a suicide bomber, was killed by an explosive concealed in a rubber container near the Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja.
However, military authorities at the scene suggested that the incident may have been caused by a mobile phone explosion rather than an IED.
As of the time of this report, personnel from the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are still assessing the situation.
