Tinubu appointed Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

This announcement was made in a statement on Monday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The President also dismissed Abba Yusuf Bichi from his position as DSS Director-General, replacing him with Ajayi.

According to the statement, Ambassador Mohammed has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. He has held various roles, including Director and head of the Nigerian mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Mohammed’s experience spans North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and the State House in Abuja.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, previously served as Assistant Director-General and has held positions as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

These new appointments follow the resignation of the previous NIA and DSS chiefs. President Tinubu expects the new leaders to work diligently to enhance the effectiveness of the intelligence agencies and address the country’s security challenges through improved collaboration with other agencies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
