BREAKING: Tinubu grants approval for public varsities, polytechnics to exit IPPIS platform
President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for public universities currently enlisted in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to transition away from the payment platform.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Prof. Mamman Tahir, following the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
Providing further details on the presidential directive, Minister of Information and National Orientation Muhammed Idris stated, “Today, the universities and other tertiary institutions have received a significant reprieve from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.
“You will recall that university authorities and others have been advocating for the exemption of universities and other tertiary institutions from this system.
Today, the Council has graciously approved that. This implies that moving forward, universities, as mentioned by the Minister of Education, and other tertiary institutions, including polytechnics and colleges of education, will no longer be part of the IPPIS.
“What that means in simple language is that the university authorities and other tertiary institutions will now be paying their own personnel from their own end instead of relying on the IPPIS.”
