Tinubu’s govt approves construction of flyover at Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, marked a significant milestone on Thursday in Apir, near Makurdi, as he officially commenced the second phase of the Makurdi-Otukpo-9th Mile Road construction and dualization. In a momentous announcement during the ceremony, Senator Umahi disclosed the approval for the construction of a flyover at the pivotal Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi, Benue State.

The visionary projects, spearheaded by Umahi, align with President Tinubu’s agenda, symbolizing a renewed hope for Nigeria’s infrastructure. Emphasizing the collaborative efforts, Umahi revealed that the Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, personally visited his office to advocate for the construction of the flyover and other vital road projects within the state.

Senator Umahi, committed to unwavering standards, reassured the public that the construction would prioritize concrete roads, ensuring optimal quality without compromising on industry standards.

Responding to this transformative initiative, Governor Alia of Benue State expressed his optimism about the positive impact of the roads on the state’s economic landscape. He highlighted the enhanced prospects for economic activities, emphasizing the ease of access for both farmers transporting goods to markets and commuters benefiting from improved road connectivity.

Governor Alia further underscored the significance of the Wurukum roundabout flyover, emphasizing its dual role in providing a facelift to the state capital and alleviating traffic congestion around the foot of the Makurdi bridge.

It is noteworthy that the expansive road projects, spanning 560km, have secured funding from the Export-Import Bank of China in collaboration with the Federal Government. This collaborative effort reflects a commitment to robust infrastructure development, symbolizing progress and prosperity for the people of Benue State and Nigeria at large.
