BREAKING: Tribunal rules in favour of Tinubu, Shettima in APM’s squit

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has made a ruling dismissing a suit brought before it by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), which sought the disqualification of Vice President Kashim Shettima. The tribunal’s decision was based on the grounds of jurisdiction.

The APM had advanced its argument, contending that Kashim Shettima was improperly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the election, primarily because he nominated Shettima as his vice-presidential candidate.

The opposition party further asserted that Shettima, at the time of accepting the vice-presidential nomination, was still the APC candidate for the Borno Central Senatorial District on July 14.

However, the tribunal, in its ruling delivered on Wednesday, deemed the case to be a pre-election matter. Consequently, it concluded that it lacked the jurisdiction required to entertain the APM’s claims.

“The suit on disqualification of Shettima based on eligibility duly struck out. We don’t have jurisdiction over that because it’s a Pre-Election matter”
