The National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Jos, Plateau State, has invalidated the election of Dachung Bagos, a two-term member of the House of Representatives representing the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency. Bagos, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the February 25 National Assembly poll, has had his election nullified by the tribunal.
The tribunal ruled that Bagos was not validly nominated by his party to contest the election. Consequently, it declared the Labour Party candidate, Ajang Alfred, as the rightful winner of the poll.
This decision marks the third time a PDP candidate’s election has been nullified by the tribunal in Plateau State, with Senator Napoleon Bali representing Plateau South and Peter Gyengdeng representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency being the other two affected candidates.
