Two students of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State, who were abducted by suspected gunmen have regained their freedom, IDOMA VOICE ha learnt.
The students, Kwaghter Israel from Tarka Local Government of the state, and Solomon from Kogi State regained their freedom after a payment of an undisclosed sum of money was made to their abductors.
According to a member of the Students Union who pleaded anonymity, the students were returned last night after relatives of the students had paid and met the conditions of the gunmen who were allegedly from Nasarawa State.
The source revealed that one of the students was sick and has been taken to an undisclosed health facility in Makurdi, for immediate treatment.
He debunked the claims that the students were seven, saying only four students were abducted. Only two were freed by the bandits.
When asked whether security measures have been put in place; the source said the Vice Chancellor has assured the students of adequate security at the university to avoid a repeat of the dastardly act.
