Ukum LG chairman, Haanongon, PA, orderly kidnapped in Benue

The Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Reverend Gideon Haanongon, has been abducted by unidentified gunmen.

Haanongon was kidnapped alongside his Personal Assistant on Administration, Silas Yuhwam, his driver, and his orderly.

The incident occured in the early hours of Saturday, according to a statement released by the Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi.

Modi revealed that the kidnapping transpired along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala Local Government Area around 6:30 am on Saturday morning.

The Chairman and his entourage were en route to attend the burial ceremony of the paramount ruler of the Local Government, Ter Katsina Ala, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo.

Expressing concern over the unfortunate incident, Modi urged residents to maintain calm and abide by the law as authorities work diligently to secure the release of the abducted Chairman. Despite the gravity of the situation, there has been no response from the Benue State Police Command to inquiries regarding the incident.
