BREAKING: Vehicles trapped in traffic as rainstorm damages Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja
A torrential rain on Tuesday brought traffic to a standstill along the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway in Abuja after sections of the Kugbo Bus Terminal were badly damaged.
The downpour reportedly tore through parts of the newly constructed facility, leaving portions of the roof compromised and debris spilling onto the roadway, thereby hindering the smooth flow of vehicles.
The situation caused heavy congestion on the ever-busy route connecting the Federal Capital Territory with neighbouring Nasarawa State, with commuters stranded for several hours.
Eyewitnesses said some vehicles were affected by the debris, while residents and road users made efforts to clear the obstruction to ease traffic flow.
The Abuja Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre operated by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO) area is most impacted area on the highway.
As of Tuesday evening when this report was filed, vehicular movement was still sluggish, and motorists were urged to drive carefully when approaching the affected axis.
