Brighton boss laments selling Cucurella to Chelsea

Brighton boss Graham Potter has admitted that the Seagulls didn’t want to sell Cucurella, but for the money involved.

Potter believes that the sale was a win-win for everyone.

“We didn’t want to sell and we didn’t need to sell him,” Brighton head coach Graham Potter said of Marc Cucurella.

“But at the same time, you understand that if a Champions League club comes with Champions League resources and finance, and the player indicates there is a desire to do it, it’s very difficult for us.

“We have to make sure we get the right fee, which has been got. It’s a situation where everybody has won. The player has got a great opportunity, the selling club has got a good fee and the buying club has got a good player as well.

“Win, win, win all around. Marc was a fantastic player for us, a great guy, so I wish him well.”

Cucurella has himself said his move to Chelsea was a dream come true.

“Hello Blues, I’m finally here!” Marc Cucurella tweeted on Friday, upon completing his Chelsea move.

“So proud of joining this team and happy to have achieved one of my dreams since I was a KID, to play for CHELSEA F.C.

“Can’t wait to get started!”

Cucurella made his Chelsea debut on Saturday, as he came on for the final 20 minutes of the game against Everton.
