BSHOA committee on finance visits BIRS corporate headquarters

Earlier today, the Benue State House of Assembly (BSHOA) House committee on finance paid a familiarization visit to the headquarter of the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS).

Led by its Chairman, Hon. Abbas Akoso leads other members of his committee as part of its oversight functions, the committee interacted with the Executive Chairman, Mr. Andrew Ayabam on ways to promote revenue generation in the state.
The Assembly members who praised the innovation by the Chairman at ensuring revenue security, sued their continued support for the board to execute its mandate.

On his part the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ayabam educated the committee on latest innovations aimed at increasing the state’s revenue base without risking the state’s security while emphasising youth empowerment.

Among such innovation was the introduction and insistence on POS and bank collections , the demolition of all illegal tax points and the cancellation of all tax agency agreements.

He also intimated the committee on the latest approval of the Executive Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom allowing BIRS to employ 375 graduates into the service and promised fair opportunity for all who applied for the jobs at the board.
