BSUTH staff lynched over stolen phone in Makurdi

A Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) staff in Makurdi was tragically killed through torture on allegations of mobile phone theft.

Residents of Gyado Villa, located at Kilometer 4 along Makurdi-Gboko Road, discovered a missing phone and summoned the accused, resulting in a fatal episode of torture, as reported by The Nation.

In the aftermath of the incident on Saturday night, February 17, a group of youths supporting the deceased retaliated by setting fire to the house of the alleged leader who orchestrated the torture.

The reprisal sparked chaos in the area, prompting numerous residents to evacuate the community due to the prevailing uncertainty.

Authorities have initiated investigations to unravel the circumstances leading to the crisis, according to police sources.
