President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Abubakar, for three months.
With this, a new police IG won’t be appointed till May.
The development is coming few days after viral report of the alleged appointment of Zanna Mohammed as the Acting IG.
However, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi, on Thursday, said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), has extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu for three months.
Adamu was due for retirement on Monday.
The minister disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the extension was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor.
