Buhari reacts as Tinubu defeats Peter Obi, Atiku in court

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his contentment with the ruling of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which upheld the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the February 25 election.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari commended the Tribunal’s decision, stating that it marked a historic moment. The five-member panel had dismissed the petitions of the presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

Buhari characterized the ruling as a victory for democracy and the Nigerian people. He asserted that the Tribunal had demonstrated resilience in the face of intimidation and prejudice to deliver justice in accordance with the law.

The statement read, “If anybody has won today, it is democracy and the people.” Buhari added, “With the verdict of the Supreme Court, the election period is over, and it is time to put the heat and dust behind us.”

Former President Buhari further called for unity and support for the new APC administration led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging all citizens to come together to help fulfill the promises made to the people during the election campaign.
