Buhari reacts to killing of APC Chairman, charge security agencies to ‘do more’

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the killing of Mr Philip Shekwo, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Nasarawa State.

The President who condemned the act challenged the security agencies to “do more” to end violence in Nigeria.

Recall that the late APC Chairman was kidnapped by gunmen, who stormed his residence in Lafia on Saturday night. He was found dead later.

Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu urged Police investigation into the death.

He said the investigation would determine if it was an assassination or kidnap-related murder.

Buhari applauded the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, for sending reinforcement of men and materials to the state.

Describing Shekwo as kind and jovial individual, Buhari commiserated with the family of the deceased.

”His contribution towards strengthening the party in Nasarawa State will not be forgotten.

“May his soul Rest in Peace,” the statement added
