Buhari to consider Lawrence Onoja as his National Security Adviser

There are claims that a former military governor of Kastina and Kaduna States, Gen. Lawrence Anebi Onoja has been penned down as the next National Security Adviser to the incoming government under the leadership of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
According to a well-informed insider, Onoja’s decision to decamp to the winning party might not be unconnected with the fat promise by the next administration.

The insider told IDOMA VOICE on Wednesday that, though Onoja’s name has been forwarded to the appropriate quarters for consideration; but some ‘old members’ of the party are kicking against it, saying that he might also do same to the party when the table turns in the future.
“When the idea came up last weekend, some persons applauded it but other old members of the APC kicked against it. They are still angry with Gen. Onoja for dumping the party to work for Jonathan’s second term bid. However, he’s still highly favoured to get the appointment from what I have seen so far.”
Asked if Gen. Buhari is aware of the suggestion, the insider said: “Gen. Onoja is not a new name to the president-elect, aside being his former senior colleague in the military, Onoja also served as an Administrator in his state, Kastina. The final decision lies in Gen. Buhari’s hand,” the insider exclusively told our reporter in Abuja.
Onoja was a member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and even slugged it out against David Mark for the Benue Zone C Senitorial ticket in 2011.
However, he pitched his tent with the PDP last year to work for Jonathan’s second term which was truncated by Gen. Buhari penultimate Saturday.
Onoja was nominated to succeed Osita Chidoka, as the Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC but was expunged at the eleventh hour for Boboye Oyeyemi.
Meanwhile, the president-elect is yet to make known members of his team that would work with him for the next four years.
