President Muhammad Buhari has written to the Nigerian Senate, seeking accelerated passage of a Bill for an Act to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO).
This was contained in a letter that was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Tuesday.
The management and board of FUHSO were constituted by the Federal Government in 2021, with Professor Innocent Ujah as the Vice-Chancellor.
The institution has also kick-started arrangements for academic and other extracurricular activities.
Buhari, in the letter, said the Bill which was also transmitted to the House of Representatives for consideration, seeks to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo.
He prayed for the expeditious consideration and passage of the Bill by the upper chamber.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Abba Moro, Benue South.
