Buhari’s ministerial list: Senate postpones recess, set to commence screening of nominees

Following the submission of the ministerial list by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate has postponed its annual recess by a week.
The development was made public by Senator Adeyeye Adedayo, chairman of the Senate ad-hoc committee on media and public affairs, during a press conference, Daily Trust reports.
Adedayo, however, disclosed that the nominees’ screening will begin on Thursday and that the red chamber will also sit on Friday and Monday, against their normal Tuesday to Thursday sitting days.
The lawmaker further gave the assurance that the confirmation ending will come to an end next week, and that the process will be thorough.
He added: “I want to tell you that this is a major sacrifice by the senators.”
Senate President Ahmad Lawan had read out the list of the 43 ministerial nominees on Tuesday morning, July 23.
Abubakar Sidq Umar, a special assistant to Senate President Ahmed Lawan on new media, unveiled the names of the nominees in a tread of tweets.
