The late Ondo Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is scheduled to be laid to rest on February 23 in Owo, situated in Owo Local Government Area. This information was disclosed in a statement announcing the funeral arrangements by his eldest son, Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu, Jnr.
According to the statement, the funeral proceedings will commence on Thursday, February 15, with a winning soul crusade at MKO Abiola Democracy Park. The Jumat Service is set to take place on Friday, February 16, at the Akure Central Mosque.
On February 17, the funeral service will transition to Ibadan for the Loyola Day of Tributes at Loyola College Hall and the OAU Night of Tributes. Additional events in Ibadan include the NBA Tribute Session, Service of Songs/Night of Tribute, Commendation Service, and a private viewing at Akeredolu’s residence.
The activities will then move back to Owo on February 21 for the Ajabue (Traditional Rites) and a Special Court Session at the Ondo State High Court, Akure, followed by Lying in State and Commendation Service at the Akure Township Stadium.
The statement outlined that Evening of Tributes and Service of Songs will be held at St Andrews Church, Owo, along with a Candlelight Procession & World Gyration by the Kegites Club. The Funeral Service is scheduled to take place at St Andrews Church, Owo.
After the burial service, the interment of the former Governor will occur at the burial site in Owo.
