CAF names Osimhen ‘Lion of Africa’ for key role in Nigeria’s victory over Cameroon

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has bestowed the title of “Lion of Africa” upon Victor Osimhen, praising the 25-year-old for his crucial contribution to Nigeria’s 2-0 triumph over Cameroon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16.

During the match, Ademola Lookman’s two goals secured a memorable victory for Nigeria against the Indomitable Lions. The official handle of CAF shared a video of Osimhen’s celebration after setting up Lookman’s first goal, using the popular slogan, “Lion of Africa no gree for anybody! Ginger o porrr! No retreat, no surrender.”

In the highlighted play, Osimhen broke free and provided a key pass to Lookman, whose finish found the net, securing Nigeria’s first goal in the encounter.

Nigeria’s success against Cameroon sets them up for a quarter-final clash against Angola. Angola secured their place in the last eight by defeating Namibia 3-0 in a previous match.
