Express Entry System Overview
The Express Entry system manages Canada’s Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Candidates are evaluated based on human capital factors including work experience, language skills, education, and age. A Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) ranks these candidates, with higher-ranked individuals having a greater likelihood of receiving ITAs after each draw.
Recently, on May 31st, the IRCC introduced new selection criteria that emphasize specific professional and demographic attributes over solely relying on CRS scores. This led to the introduction of six new categories for Express Entry candidates, designed to address urgent job openings and promote French language proficiency outside of Quebec. These categories include Healthcare, STEM professions, Trades, Transport, Agriculture and agri-food, and French-language proficiency.
