Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie have officially signed a legal agreement to separate after nearly 18 years of marriage. Trudeau made the announcement himself through his Instagram page, just a few minutes ago.
In his statement, he expressed, “Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have decided to separate. As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you.”
The Prime Minister’s office also confirmed the separation in a statement released on Wednesday. The statement emphasized that both Justin and Sophie have diligently taken all necessary legal and ethical steps concerning their decision to separate and will continue to do so moving forward.
Despite their separation, the former couple remains dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and collaborative environment for their children. They plan to spend time together on vacation as a family, beginning next week.
Justin Trudeau, aged 51, and Sophie Trudeau, aged 48, tied the knot in late May 2005 and share three children from their union. As they embark on this new chapter in their lives, they are committed to maintaining a close and supportive family dynamic while respecting each other’s privacy during this time of change.
