The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria assures the public that despite the recent fire incident in its Abuja building, visa application centres in Abuja and Lagos remain open. Mr. Demilade Kosemani, the Communications and Public Affairs Officer, expressed this in a statement on Thursday, extending condolences for the loss of a colleague in the Abuja fire.

The statement highlights that the processing of applications by Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) clients continues. Despite the temporary suspension of operations in Abuja, the visa application centres in both Abuja and Lagos are operational. The public is encouraged to use the provided webform for status updates.

For Canadians in Nigeria requiring emergency assistance, consular support is available via email at sos@international.gc.ca, phone at +1 613 996 8885, or through WhatsApp at +1-613-909-8881.

The recent explosion at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja resulted in two casualties, including a local employee, with two others injured. Global Affairs Canada has committed to collaborating with local authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion.
