Celebrating Hon. Godday; A man of impact at 51

Peter Ochohepo

Indeed, it feels great to celebrate life on special occasions as birthdays, particularly when such a life has great influence on the society in the positive direction.

As the Honourable Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue State, Hon. Samuel Odagboyi Godday clocks 51 today in his sojourn on earth, the good people of Apa/Agatu cannot be less thankful to God for the gift of such an illustrious son.

In the past five decades of his lifetime, Samuel Godday has become a household name in the entire Idoma kingdom, known for his passion for humanity and philanthropic gestures across the Benue South Senatorial District and beyond.

As a people-oriented individual, he has reached out to hundreds of lives within and outside the Idoma nation, particularly Apa/Agatu in various areas such as;

✓ The payment of Scholarship/bursary allowances to hundreds of indigenous students studying in various tertiary institutions within the country

✓ Provision of welfare packages for Windows and orphans in their hundreds through Samuel Godday Foundation

✓ Sponsorship of several students through tertiary education

✓ Influencing the appointment of several Idoma sons and daughters to head top government agencies and so on.

Indeed, for want of time, one may not continue to dwell so much the antecedents and impacts of the Honourable Member on his people prior to his political career, but worthy of note is the fact that Godday Samuel has not only distinguished himself amongst his contemporaries but his passionate drive towards serving humanity and his performances endeared him to his people, no wonder key political players, stakeholders and opinion leaders from Apa/Agatu beckoned on him to lead them in the capacity of House of Representatives Member; been the highest elected political office in the constituency at the time.

X-raying his life as a politician from the year 2019 till date, particularly after the general elections which he emerged victorious against all odds, Hon. Godday has continued to display remarkable capacity to deliver by purposefully taking the bull by the horn in the areas of human resource empowerment and development as well as the provision of basic social amenities like rural roads, rural electrification, education, health care centers and information technology facilities; all of which remain the major challenges of his people.

As a family man, Hon. Godday have proven to be a successful husband and father in all ramifications, enjoying the love and support of his dear wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Samuel in the last 22 years of marriage which is graciously blessed with four children.

Indeed, behind every successful man, there’s is a virtuous woman and one must commend Mrs. Elizabeth in this regards, standing by her husband through thick and thin; prayerfully at all times.

My dear leader and mentor Sir, in the spirit of the celebration, it is my ernest prayer that the good Lord grant you incredible longevity of life with unprecedented achievements as you journey further in life.

I also pray for God’s guidance and wisdom for you as you continue to lead our people, may the Almighty grant you your heart desires and preserve your days on earth.

Once again, Happy Birthday Sir, Hon. Samuel Odagboyi Godday
