Celebrities react as Funke Akindele speaks on ‘giving up’ career for PDP

Nollywod actress and content creator, Funke Akindele got many of her colleagues on their feet with the speech, announcing her nomination as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election.

In the video shared on her Instagram page, Funke expressed concern about the plight of the less fortunate especially the youth category, which drifted her strong passion to help and assist in governance.

The mother of two said she’s not unaware of the cost of the assignment on her vibrant career which will now be necessarily put on hold.

According to Funke, accepting the PDP gubernatorial nomination is a huge personal sacrifice and has resolved that no sacrifice is too much for the actualisation of the urgent mission to rescue Lagosians.

She said: “I am not unaware of the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career which I must now necessarily put on hold. It is a huge personal sacrifice.

“My resolve is that no sacrifice is too much for the actualization of the urgent mission to rescue our people and our dear state. It is a call that I take with reverence and the utmost sense of responsibility.”

Reacting to the video, many of her colleagues congratulated her while applauding her for the well-articulated speech.
