CHAN: Eguavoen invites 30-man squad for Ghana clash

Super Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 30-man squad as preparations intensify for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 qualifiers.

The CHAN, now in its 8th edition, is a tournament exclusively for players who compete in their country’s domestic leagues under standard contracts.

In a statement issued on Monday by Ademola Olajire, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Head of Communications, the selected players have been directed to report to camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Wednesday.

Among the call-ups is Kano Pillars’ veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali, who has impressed this season with eight goals. Other notable inclusions are Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo, and Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo.

Also joining the squad are Enyimba FC goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, Remo Stars wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Enugu Rangers midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye, and Nasarawa United forward Anas Yusuf. Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins, who featured in last month’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, and Plateau United’s Adamu Abubakar have also been invited.

The Super Eagles B team will begin training ahead of their first-leg qualifier against Ghana’s Black Stars B on December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium. The return leg is scheduled for December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
