Chelsea fans turned on Mauricio Pochettino as they watched their side struggle to a 2-2 draw against west London rivals Brentford.
The Blues had taken the lead with a Nicolas Jackson header, but their advantage was short-lived as Mads Roerslev equalized with a close-range strike.
Things went from bad to worse when Yoane Wissa put Brentford ahead with a spectacular overhead kick, prompting the away fans to chant the name of former manager Jose Mourinho and call for Pochettino’s dismissal.
However, Chelsea managed to salvage a point on Pochettino’s 52nd birthday, thanks to Axel Disasi’s late equaliser.
Jackson’s performance in his turbulent first season leading Chelsea’s attack was exemplified in a series of events within a 10-minute span of the first half.
First, the Senegalese forward embarked on a promising run into the Brentford area, only to complicate matters with an excessive step-over, resulting in him losing possession.
Then, he seized upon Enzo Fernandez’s through-ball, rounded Bees’ keeper Mark Flekken, and appeared set to score into an empty net. Yet, his shot lacked the necessary power, allowing Mathias Jorgensen to recover and clear the ball from just beneath the crossbar.
Nevertheless, with ten minutes remaining in the first half, Jackson displayed his prowess by rising above Brentford’s center-backs Jorgensen and Kristoffer Ajer to meet Malo Gusto’s cross with a commanding header, breaking the deadlock.
