Chelsea is more than just a club for Reece James, as the English fullback expresses his deep connection to the team. During a midweek preseason draw against Newcastle, James was elated to be named captain, an honor that filled him with pride.
“It’s kind of all I know,” the England international revealed, emphasizing his longstanding relationship with Chelsea. “I’ve been on loan once, but came back after one season. I’ve been at Chelsea my whole life; it’s always been Chelsea for me. It’s an honour to play for the club, and to put the armband on was a great feeling.”
Having experienced a break from playing for three-and-a-half months, James relished the opportunity to be back on the pitch. “I haven’t played in a while, so it’s been a long time since I laced up,” he shared. “I felt good, it was a good step in the right direction for me. We’re training hard, and it is paying off.”
