Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has ruled Mateo Kovacic out of Chelsea’s London derby game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Kovacic was an unused substitute against Everton at Goodison Park last weekend, and Tuchel has revealed that the midfielder is still struggling with injury.
According to Tuchel, Kovacic has a niggling knee injury and is being treated with caution.
“Kova is injured, unfortunately, and has issues with his knee,” Tuchel said on Friday.
“We decided to take a step back and increase treatment time and reduce the stress that comes from training to have a normal reaction before we start again.”
Tuchel has also ruled out Marcos Alonso from the game, as he is trying to seal a move away to Spanish side Barcelona.
Tuchel added: “Marcos Alonso is not in training at the moment as he tries to finalise his transfer, so he won’t be in contention for Sunday.
“Everybody else is available.”
