Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s legal team is preparing to file a motion challenging President Bola Tinubu’s plea to prevent Chicago State University from releasing his academic records. The move comes as Atiku continues to contest Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Previously, Atiku had obtained an order for Chicago State University to provide his legal team with access to Tinubu’s academic records. However, Tinubu’s lawyers requested a review of the order by a district judge, arguing that the records are not relevant to Nigerian courts and that Atiku’s request is overly intrusive into Tinubu’s private educational records.
The deadline for responding to this motion was approaching, and Atiku’s legal team had up to 48 hours to respond. Atiku’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, confirmed that they would be submitting the motion within the given timeframe. The court will set a date for the ruling after both parties have responded.
Atiku’s legal challenge against Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential poll continues, with the academic records forming part of the ongoing legal battle.
