China resumes 15-day visa-free entry for Singapore, Brunei

China is set to reinstate its 15-day visa-free entry for citizens of Singapore and Brunei. The embassies in both countries have confirmed that this visa-free access will resume on Wednesday. This move comes after more than three years since the visas were suspended as part of the efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.

Citizens of Singapore and Brunei holding regular passports will once again be allowed to enter China without a visa. The visa-free entry will cover various purposes, including business trips, sightseeing, visiting family and friends, and transit through China. The information was released through official statements on the embassies’ websites.

In December, China had already lifted many of its zero-COVID regulations, but the issuance of tourist permits was delayed until March. Now, with the resumption of visa-free travel for Singaporean and Bruneian citizens, the travel ties between these countries and China are taking steps towards normalization.

It’s worth noting that China has also expressed its interest in obtaining visa-free travel for its own nationals visiting Singapore.
