Joe Igbokwe, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), lamented that Davido and Chioma’s traditional wedding was held in Lagos instead of Chioma’s hometown in Imo State.
He attributed this decision to security concerns posed by groups such as IPOB, ESN, and other armed factions in the South East.
In an Instagram post, Igbokwe expressed regret that such a cultural event did not occur in the South East.
He urged people of Igbo descent to contemplate the implications of this development and work towards restoring peace in their homeland.
He wrote: “Despite the beauty and vibrancy of CHIVIDO’s wedding, it saddens me deeply that the event did not take place in the South East. Thank you IPOB, ESN, and known gunmen. It’s time to reflect deeply on what today’s events in Lagos mean for anyone with Igbo heritage. Even a prominent Adeleke family from Osun State could not venture to the South East for Davido and Chioma’s traditional marriage.”
