Chris Oyakhilome’s claim of raising 50 people from the dead sparks controversy

The General Overseer of Christ Embassy Church, Chris Oyakhilome, has stirred social media with astonishing claims that his church has witnessed the resurrection of over 50 deceased individuals.

During a three-day healing livestream on his church’s platform, LoveWorld USA, the 60-year-old clergyman made these startling assertions.

The program, which took place from March 15 to 17, 2024, was broadcast on LoveWorld USA.

In a live video shared on LoveWorld USA’s Facebook page on March 17, Mr. Oyakhilome mentioned that these ‘resurrections’ involved people from diverse age groups and nationalities.

He stated, “In the past year, we have witnessed the resurrection of more than 50 people, more than 50 people.

“How do you explain such occurrences? Both young and old, in various countries, how do you explain? What reasoning can be applied to this? This includes cases that took place within hospitals, to the astonishment of doctors and nurses; how do you explain this?” the cleric inquired.

In a light-hearted manner, he also joked about how skeptics might struggle to rationalize these extraordinary events, playfully suggesting that they might believe the revived individuals somehow “bought” their way back from the afterlife.

Mr. Oyakhilome remarked, “Perhaps we bribed them (the deceased individuals) in hell or in heaven to return. You know, people sometimes allege that we bribe individuals. So perhaps we bribed the deceased individuals to return to life, wouldn’t that be remarkable? The truth stands unshaken.”

Acknowledging critics, the tele-evangelist noted that several individuals expressed displeasure due to the miracles displayed by the church on television.

He explained, “Years ago, particularly those from the pharmaceutical industry, exerted pressure on certain countries’ governments to cease ministers from praying for the sick on television. They influenced regulatory bodies in different countries to outlaw miracle programs and healing programs on television.

“They came up with nonsensical claims and so forth, and even today, some of these countries still maintain such provisions in their regulatory laws, but you know, God is superior and wiser than men. We could not be deterred; all those challenges opened up new avenues and greater opportunities for God.”

In response to these claims, Daddy Freeze publicly appealed to the pastor to include Mohbad and Mr. Ibu in the list of resurrected individuals.

He stated, “God bless you abundantly, sir. Can you please add Mohbad and Mr. Ibu to the list? Thank you in anticipation of your support.”

Mr. Oyakhilome is no stranger to controversy.

In March 2020, he made headlines when he asserted that the 5G network, not coronavirus, was responsible for fatalities.

In the video, Mr. Oyakhilome also mentioned that the lockdown was implemented to facilitate the installation of 5G in Abuja and Lagos by the federal government.

During a sermon to his congregation, he explained that 5G was part of a new world order where certain figures of authority in the world were attempting to establish a religion, economy, and government for the entire universe.

However, three clerics—Poju Oyemade, Sam Adeyemi, and Matthew Ashimolowo—disputed Mr. Oyakhilome’s claims at separate events.
