The CAN Chairman North-Central Zone, Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, has decried the spate of killing in Benue State.
Akanji, who led the delegation of the association on a sympathy visit to Governor Samuel Ortom at the government house, told governor that they were in the state to identify with the government and people over the gruesome murder of two Catholic Priests and seventeen other worshippers by Fulani insurgents.
Rev. Akanji who said Benue was not alone in the struggle for justice and quest to protect the lives and property of her citizens, disclosed that voices against the killings in Benue state are not only heard in Nigeria but are now heard outside the shores of the country.
Rev. Akanji who decried the displacement of thousands of people from their ancestral homes disclosed that as part of their contribution to easing the problems they are facing, they will visit some of the camps to donate relief materials to the internally displaced persons.
Governor Ortom, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abound, extolled CAN and the Christian community for their prayers, love and concern, and for the relief materials, they brought for the upkeep of the IDPs.
