Christian Eriksen has revealed he expects to leave Manchester United when his contract expires in June and is open to a fresh challenge away from the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of Denmark’s Nations League quarter-final clash with Portugal, the 33-year-old midfielder said United have not discussed a contract extension, leading him to believe his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.
“I’m ready to look for something new—that suits me well,” Eriksen told reporters. “There’s been no talk of a new deal from United, so I assume our collaboration is over. That’s my interpretation.”
The former Inter Milan and Brentford star added that he won’t rush into a decision but is open to offers. “I’ll see what opportunities come up. If the right one appears, I’ll take it.”
Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 and now plays with a heart device, has struggled for regular starts at United since Ruben Amorim took over as manager last year. He recently returned to the starting lineup in United’s last two Premier League games, after a lengthy period on the bench since December.
“My intention is not to stay in England,” he added, signaling a desire to move abroad.
Since joining United in 2022, Eriksen has made 99 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals.
