Contrary to reports circulating in some quarters, it has been confirmed that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, father of the late Access Bank Holdings’ Dr. Herbert Wigwe, did not collapse during his son’s funeral service. Earlier, there was a wave of apprehension spurred by unconfirmed reports suggesting that the elder Wigwe had slumped during the funeral held at Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, in his 80s, was rumored to have slumped due to the shock of losing his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson in a tragic helicopter crash in the US on Saturday, March 9.
However, a reliable police source has categorically dismissed these rumors, affirming that Wigwe’s father is “Hale and hearty.”
The source further stated, “Even the Senate President (Godswill Akpabio) met and prayed for him. The story of Pa Wigwe’s collapse is totally false. We should allow the family to mourn its dead and not add to the pain by circulating false stories.”
The remains of the deceased have been laid to rest at a private cemetery within the premises of Wigwe University in Isiokpo. This clarification aims to set the record straight amidst the grieving period for the family.
