Clash between farmers and herdsmen in Oyo leaves 3 dead

A violent clash between farmers and herders in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State has resulted in the tragic loss of three lives. The conflict, which began on Friday in Inayin-Apakolo Agbaruru village, Iwere-Ile, continued until Sunday.

Reports from sources indicate that four individuals, including a member of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), commonly known as Amotekun, lost their lives during the ongoing confrontation.

When the clash initially erupted, the local community sought the assistance of security personnel, but the responding security agents were ambushed by the attackers.

One Amotekun member succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack, while another is presently receiving medical treatment in a hospital, according to a source.

John Opeyemi Olalere, Chairman of the Oke Ogun Development Forum (OODF) in Iwajowa Local Government Area, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, offering his condolences to the affected families and naming the deceased individuals.

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted, said: “Investigation has commenced. Updates would be provided accordingly.”
