Conduct Biafra Referendum now – Ejimakor to Nigerian govt

Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has addressed the ongoing situation in Lagos State, where there are allegations of targeted demolitions of properties belonging to Igbos.

Ejimakor urged those advocating for the removal of Igbos from Lagos or Nigeria to instead conduct a Biafra referendum.

Taking to social media platform X, Ejimakor emphasized that resorting to property demolitions is cowardly and suggested that a referendum on Biafra would be a more appropriate and democratic way to address the issue. He stated, “If you want Igbos out of Lagos or Nigeria, stop #demolishing their properties; that’s cowardly. Instead, do a referendum on Biafra and brace for the resounding result. Until then, stop turning Nigeria into an open-air prison for Igbos. From the pogrom to now, Igbos have had enough.”

The backdrop of this call is the reported targeting and demolition of markets and buildings owned by Igbos in Lagos State.

Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike is among those who have claimed that his house was demolished by the Lagos State government, despite having obtained due approval from relevant authorities.
