Udaburu, a suburb of Owukpa in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State was thrown into pandemonium, Friday evening following the gruesome murder of one of their illustrious sons in Idanre, Ondo State.
It was gathered that the victim, whose identity was given as Ameh Adikwu, from the famous family of Adikwu Ojiji (the landlord of Udaburu Kingdom) was until his demise a peasant farmer in Idanre area of Ondo State.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the late lamented Adikwu, a father of two was declared missing after he went to farm and could not return for days.
A family source told our reporter in Owukpa that the deceased his relatives in the area became worried after his return tarried for days.
“He went to farm like five days back and he could not return. His phone was ringing but he didn’t pick. We all became worried and decided to trace him to his farm.
“We continue to call his phone on our way to the farm and luckily for us, we heard the phone ringing in the bush.
“On reaching there, we discovered that he has been shot severally on his head and mouth,” he said.
Asked if the late Adikwu had issue with anybody, the family source said the deceased was friendly and easygoing.
“We are still trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. We have reported the case to the appropriate quarters. We will surely get to the root of the matter,” the bereaved family member who his name as James said.
He had since been buried in his father’s house in Adepe area of Udaburu Owukpa.
