Council Elections: Okpokwu PDP adopts Amina as consensus candidate

Okpokwu local government chapter of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has adopted Hon Mrs Amina Audu as its consensus candidate for the forth coming chairmanship election.

The decision was made known at the Local Government Caucus meeting in Okpokwu hall at Okpoga.

The meeting which had in attendance, the Senator representing Benue South and the Leader of PDP Benue South, Senator Abba Moro, Special Adviser to the governor, Hon Jacob Ogwuche, former local government council chairman and the leader of Ichama, Hon Emmanuel Onoja, House of Assembly member representing Okpokwu, Hon Anthony Agom, General Manager BENSESA, Hon Solomon Onah, former liaison officer to the governor, Hon Robert Amedu, secretary Okpokwu local government council, Hon Emmanuel Pronto Ameh, former chairman PDP Okpokwu local government chapter and currently a state exco of PDP, Hon Godfrey Adah, SSA designate, Robert Obetta, SSA designate, Hon Peter Adah, all the exco of PDP Okpokwu local government chapter, all the ward chairmen, among other top party leaders from the LGA.

The meeting which was presided over by the Okpokwu LGA party chairman, Hon Simon Ochai agreed that the chairmanship position should go to Edumoga Ehaje.

Hon Jacob Ogwuche, special adviser to the governor, had earlier maintained that hence the zoning shifted to Edumoga and and therefore Edumoga Ehaje should have the position.

Robert Amedu a former liaison officer to the governor explained that hence the zoning is with Edumoga Ehaje and the current caretaker chairman, Hon Mrs Amina Audu who comes from Edumoga Ehaje having done so well as a caretaker chairman, worthy of note, is the restoration of peace in her time as caretaker chairman to the once troubled Okpokwu and other developmental projects she is initiating, therefore should be allowed to continue the good work.

All the stakeholders present agreed to the zoning and subsequent upon unanimously accepting the zoning to remain with Edumoga Ehaje, the House of Assembly member for Okpokwu, Hon Anthony Agom, moved the motion for the adoption of Hon Mrs Amina Audu as the sole candidate of the party in order to complete the good work she started as caretaker chairman, while seconding the motion Hon Solomon Onah, GM BENSESA, said Hon Amina Audu has distinguished herself in service delivery of the council as caretaker chairman and as such deserve to be supported.

The entire stakeholders gathered agreed that Hon Mrs Amina Audu deserve to be supported to complete her good work as elected chairman.

In his remark, Hon Amina Audu accepted and promised not to let the people down on the confidence reposed on her.

In the closing remark Senator Abba Moro thanked all the stakeholders for attending and assured that there are so much appointments to give out and the will ensure that everybody get what is due. He applauded the party for ensuring that zoning is respected in line with the instruction of the party hierarchy.
