A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has approved three foreign laboratories to conduct a DNA test to determine the paternity of Liam, son of late singer Mohbad.

Counsel to the singer’s father, Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed the decision shortly after the court sitting.

According to him, the court sanctioned one laboratory in the United States and two in the United Kingdom for the exercise.

He explained that all parties involved will be present when samples are taken. The widow of the late artiste, Wunmi, and his father, Joseph Aloba, were each allowed to nominate a laboratory, while the court selected a third independent facility.

“The court has eventually picked three DNA Laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” he said.

The move follows a request by the late singer’s father for a DNA test in the wake of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death in September 2023 at his residence.

The case has been adjourned until April 7, 2026, when sample collection will take place under the supervision of welfare officers.
