Court issues public summons against ex-Kogi Gov Yahaya Bello over N110bn fraud allegations
Justice Maryanne Anenih of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has issued a public summons for Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, to appear in court on October 24.
He is facing 16 counts related to alleged fraud totaling ₦110.4 billion.
The summons follows an application from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which stated that it was unable to serve Bello with the charges filed on September 24.
Alongside Bello, two other defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, are also implicated in the case.
In her ruling, Justice Anenih instructed the EFCC to publish the summons in a widely circulated newspaper and to display copies at Bello’s last known address and in prominent locations within the court premises.
This action is part of the court’s efforts to ensure that Bello is properly notified of the proceedings against him.
