Court jails man 15 months for stealing N2m items
In Ogun, a 39-year-old man, Ijioma Kalu, received a 15-month prison sentence from the Ota Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for his involvement in a burglary where items worth N2 million were stolen.
Magistrate Mr. O. O. Okiki handed down the prison sentence without the possibility of a fine after Kalu pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, conspiracy, and theft.
According to Inspector E. O. Adaraloye, who served as the prosecutor, the convict and other individuals who remain at large carried out the offenses on June 23 at 8:35 p.m. The incident took place at Alawode Street, Lafenwa, in the Itele-Awori area of Ota.
Adaraloye explained that Kalu broke into the residence of the complainant, Grace Eduvie, and stole household items with an estimated value of N2 million. These items had been entrusted to Patience Atunu.
He said the offences contravened the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006, NAN reports.
