Court orders destruction of 3 tankers containing adulterated diesel nabbed by NSCDC in Osun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has secured the forfeiture of three tankers carrying adulterated diesel.

The command under the leadership of Commandant CC Emmanuel Ocheja made this known on Monday through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC II, Atanda Olabisi in Osogbo.

The forfeited tankers with registration numbers: XT 985 MUS (Lagos), FST 460 XA (Lagos) and FST 709 XB  (Lagos) have been in the custody of the NSCDC, Osun State Command as exhibits since November 10, 2013, when the respondents were arrested.

The ruling was delivered by Justice N. Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo Judicial Division, February 9, 2022.

Ayo-Emmanuel ordered the forfeiture of aforesaid tankers which are exhibits in the instant case and presently in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also ordered the auctioning of the aforesaid tankers by Licensed Auctioneer to the members of the public while the proceeds, after the deduction of the expenses incurred, be paid into the Federal Government Treasury.

The judge also ordered NSCDC to discharge and destroy the adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) contained in the compartments of the aforesaid forfeited tankers in the way and manner it deemed fit in the circumstances.

The defendant/respondents were investigated and promptly arraigned in court under Section 1(17) & (18) (i) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act wherein they were granted bail and subsequently jumped bail.

The NSCDC State Commandant stated that no matter the antics employed by persons bent on frustrating the policies of government, the arms of the law would get them and justice will be served.

Meanwhile, the Osun Government has congratulated CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on his appointment as the new Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force by the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, on Monday in Osogbo commended the professionalism, hard-work and dedication that had characterised his career.

Egbemode described Adejobi’s appointment, as deserving and a reward for loyalty, sacrifice and dedication to the service of the nation.

The Commissioner said that the government and people of Osun have no doubt that Adejobi would bring to bear his wealth of experience, knowledge and image management acumen in his new assignment.

“The government and the good people of the State of Osun heartily congratulate a worthy son of our dear state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on his appointment as the new Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force by the Inspector-General of Police.

“CSP Adejobi is a core professional and an experienced Public Relations Officer who has served as the PPRO in Ogun State Command, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, and the Police Command in Lagos State.

“Until his appointment as the new Police spokesman, he was the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer at Louis Edet House, Force Headquaters, Abuja.

“His track record has convinced us that professionalism, hard work and dedication have been the trademark of his service to the nation through the Police Force.

“Being the spokesman of the Nigerian Police Force is a delicate national assignment but we have no doubt that CSP Adejobi will bring his wealth of experience, knowledge and image management acumen garnered over the years to bear on his responsibilities, and make Osun and Nigeria proud,” she said.
