NICHOLAS IBENU JR., LAGOS
Enforcement team of Lagos State Government has sealed a Chinese company for allegedly violating the presidential two weeks “stay-at-home” directive to encompass the spread of the covid-19 pandemic.
The covid-19 began in Chinese city of Wuham from where it spreads to other countries around the world.
The company, SPNparkaging, located at Plot B, Israel Adebanjo close, Ikeja, was sealed alongside a brothel at 8, Omitola Panada street, Agege, for going contrary to the government order to shut down.
The Lagos enforcement team consisting of Lagos State environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Lagos state Commission and rapid response Squad (RRS).
Lanre Mojola, director-general of Lagos Safety Commission, speaking on development, Thursday, said the enforcement was carried following a tip-off received from good-spirited individuals that some firms directed their workers to resume duties in blatant disdain to the subsisting order to shut down their operations.
He described the non-compliance with the presidential directive by some organizations unpatriotic, noting that the essence of the directive was to curb the spread of the noble covid-19 pandemic in Lagos.
“In following one of the tip-offs to the factory of PSN, a Chinese Nationals and their Nigerian workers was inside the factory while production was going on, contrary to a claim that the premise were empty”.
“There were immediately directed to stop production before the company was eventually sealed,” said Mojola.
Condemning the action of the business owners that force their employees to defy presidential directive, Mojola noted that the enforcement team would not be deterred by the antics of selfish people who were determined to endanger the lives of others through their unbridled greed.
While revealing that the enforcement team also dislodged a group of over 50 commercial sex workers at Supreme Brothel before sealing off the premises, Mojola warned residents of the area to desist from patronizing such crowded locations to prevent the spread of the disease, especially the deadly Coronavirus.
Speaking also, Dolapo Fasawe, general manager of LASEPA, said the enforcement team had been receiving lots tips-offs from concerned citizens about the activities of some unscrupulous organizations contravening the lockdown directive in the State.
