Crisis: Police tells Rivers APC to cancel rally

The Rivers state Police Command has advised the All Progressives Congress in Rivers state to re-schedule it governorship rally planned to hold in Okrika Local Government area of the state.

It was earlier reported that hoodlums suspected to be working for the PDP at midnight invaded the National Field, Okrika shot sporadically and used explosives to destroy the arrangements made for the rally.

The APC organising committee tried to continue with their arrangement for the campaign at about 8am but met another waterloo when the hoodlums returned and started another round of shooting.

Following the latest development the State police Command confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the state Commissioner of Police Dan Bature.  
CP Bature said though no loss of life was recorded, calm has been restored in the area but advised that the rally be fixed for another date.
