CRUEL! BSU student lands in prison over burnt police vehicle

By Ukan Kurugh

About 3 weeks ago, I had published an article here about Kever Bemdoo, an innocent boy who was in police custody while his mates matriculated at the Benue State University.

The tragedy of his life met him when his elder brother had sent him to fetch part of his school fees from an elder sister, since he had gotten admission to read Geography at the Benue State University, only for him to end up in police custody over a police vehicle that was burnt hours before he used that path. Eventually, he among others were imprisoned and later charged to court.
His elder brother’s efforts were insufficient to grant him bail and pitifully, the poor boy was at Makurdi prisons while his mates matriculated, as his bail motion was slated for 26th July, 2016.

Time table for new students of the Benue State University is ready and they are to begin examinations on the 1st of August. Unfortunately for Bemdoo who has become miserable over such undeserved fate, the new prosecutor on his case who would have facilitated his bail denied it on grounds that he was given the case file under short notice and had not gone through the it, so it was not possible for Bemdoo to again taste the free air of life.

The malnourished and underfed 23 year old has become a shadow of himself, as if adding insult to injury, the joy of getting admitted into the university has turned to dashed hopes and shattered dream, as he didn’t celebrate his matriculation and he is set, having been denied bail, to miss his examinations.

His elder brother Kevin Kever Donald GK has equally given up on life as all efforts made seem to hit the rocks. He decried the hardship Bemdoo’s unjust imprisonment has put him through. The feeding at the prison been too poor and that at least a thousand naira had to be expended daily in attempt to meet up with Bemdoo’s feeding and how hard it has become even to afford this.

The entire family is weighed down by the undeserved and unfortunate fate innocent Bem is confronted with. they have resorted to prayers as their only hope, hence human efforts have failed them, believing that God will hear them. His case has been adjourned till next Monday, the same day his mates will start exam, even as he has missed all assessments.
