Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 25, 2023 election, has conveyed his strong dismay at what he perceives as President Ahmed Tinubu’s inclination towards forgery.
Through his Media Adviser, Mazi Paul Ibe, Atiku released a statement on Sunday in Abuja expressing his disappointment. He criticized Tinubu’s handling of the exposure of his alleged forged Chicago State University (CSU) certificate, accusing Tinubu’s team of altering records to divert attention from prior forgeries.
Atiku emphasized that the truth remains that President Tinubu purportedly falsified a document he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and made a sworn affidavit to support this alleged forgery.
The statement highlighted the sworn deposition of the CSU Registrar, Caleb Westberg, who stated under oath that they did not have a true and correct copy of the diploma allegedly issued to Tinubu in 1979. This revelation is central to the allegations of forgery surrounding Tinubu’s educational qualifications.
Atiku’s Media Adviser emphasized that the core issue is Tinubu’s alleged forgery, which has implications for integrity and morality. He urged that if President Tinubu will not take honorable action by resigning from office, at least his supporters should refrain from spreading misleading information.
The statement also raised concerns about discrepancies in the names on Tinubu’s NYSC certificate, citing alleged inconsistencies that suggest forgery.
