Daily Asset newspaper Honours Benue ADC governorship hopeful, Dr. Peter Adejoh as Philanthropist of the Year
Daily Asset Newspaper has honoured Benue State African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship aspirant and business mogul, Dr. Peter Adejoh, with the prestigious Philanthropist of the Year 2025 Award.
The high-profile award ceremony was held on Thursday, February 5, 2025, at the Conference Hall of Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, and drew a distinguished gathering of political leaders, business executives, civil society actors, media professionals, and development advocates from across Nigeria.
Dr. Adejoh, who is the founder of the Peter Adejoh Foundation, was recognised for his exceptional commitment to humanitarian service, grassroots empowerment, and sustained interventions aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities, particularly in Benue State.
The awardee chairs a corporate group with over ten subsidiaries spanning banking, construction, solid minerals development, oil and gas, and hospitality, including several hotels across the country. Beyond business success, Dr. Adejoh has developed an economic empowerment model that has positively impacted countless individuals. Through the Dr. Peter Adejoh Foundation, many people have been supported and empowered, becoming self-reliant and financially independent.
Presenting the award, the management of Daily Asset Newspaper described Dr. Adejoh as “a rare model of leadership whose generosity is not driven by publicity but by genuine concern for humanity.” The organisation noted that his selfless contributions have translated into tangible impact, restoring hope to countless families and communities.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Adejoh emphasized the vital role of philanthropy in society, noting that true leadership is measured by the ability to give back and empower others, especially those in vulnerable communities.
“I believe strongly that once you receive help, you must also extend help to others. When support cascades across different levels of society, more people are empowered. Some people struggle with as little as ₦1,000 or ₦5,000, while others cannot even afford basic medication. This is why we must make it a daily commitment to support people whenever we can.”
He added: “It is an honour to be recognised for the philanthropic work we do. I am deeply passionate about healthcare, and whenever God blesses us with resources and profit, I believe strongly in taking a portion of that to give back to society. To be recognised at this stage of our journey is truly humbling.”
On the impact of his foundation, he said: “Through the Dr. Peter Adejoh Foundation, many young people have been empowered. Some have gone from struggling with as little as ₦1,000 or ₦5,000 to becoming self-reliant. Our focus is education, economic empowerment and healthcare. Leadership should be compassionate, accountable, and responsive to the needs of society.”
Dr. Adejoh observed the pressing challenges of insecurity in Benue and other parts of the country, noting that they have deepened hardships for citizens and underlined the need for compassionate and responsive leadership.
